April 20, Starting the Week with Mixed Grain Rice

오늘은 2026년 4월 20일 월요일이에요. 또 다시 한주가 시작되었네요. 주말에는 여름처럼 더웠는데 오늘은 기온이 좀 떨어지고 바람도 불어서 한결 나았어요. 주중에 황사와 비 예보가 있다고 하니, 요즘 날씨 변화가 정말 심하네요.

Today is Monday, April 20th, 2026. Another week has begun. It was almost summer-like hot over the weekend, but today the temperature dropped a bit and there was some wind, so it felt much better. They’re forecasting yellow dust and rain this week — the weather changes are really extreme these days.

오늘 먹은 메뉴 / Today's Menu
찰수수밥 : Glutinous Sorghum Rice (Chalsusu-bap)
찰수수밥은 거의 처음 먹는 것 같아요. 특별한 느낌은 없고 그냥 잡곡밥이죠.
It feels like my first time trying glutinous sorghum rice. It doesn’t have a special taste — it’s just mixed grain rice.
김치오뎅국 : Kimchi Fish Cake Soup (Kimchi Eomuk-guk)
너무 시큼했었어요. 신김치가 아직도 많이 남아있나 봐요.
It was way too sour. There must still be a lot of sour kimchi left.
매콤깻잎닭갈비 : Spicy Perilla Leaf Chicken Galbi (Maekom Kkaennip Dakgalbi)
거의 닭고기는 없고 양파 등 야채만 있었어요. 양념은 맛있었어요.
There was almost no chicken, mostly onions and vegetables. The seasoning itself was tasty though.
유린기 : Yurinchi (Crispy Sweet & Sour Chicken)
유린기는 제가 좋아하는 요리에요. 닭갈비에 닭이 없었는데 유린기는 닭이라 괜찮았어요.
Yurinchi is one of my favorite dishes. There was no chicken in the galbi, but at least this had chicken.
소시지 떡강정 : Sausage Tteokgangjeong (Sausage Rice Cake)
예전에 비해 점점 반찬에 단 음식들이 늘어나고 있는 것 같아요.
It seems like sweeter side dishes are becoming more common compared to before.
메추리알 콘샐러드 : Quail Egg Corn Salad (Mechurial Kon Salad)
반찬으로 먹기 좋아요.
It’s a nice side dish to eat with rice.
콩나물무침 : Bean Sprout Salad (Kongnamul Muchim)
매콤하게 무쳤는데 간이 좀 짰어요.
It was seasoned spicy, but a bit too salty.
오복지 : Japanese Five-Treasure Pickles (Obokji)
일본식 절임 반찬인데 “오복”은 다섯 가지 복을 말하고 “지”는 절임을 의미해요.
This is a Japanese-style pickled side dish. “Obok” means five blessings, and “ji” means pickles.
고들빼기 : Godulbaegi (Korean Wild Lettuce)
고들빼기는 국화과 풀이에요. 정말 한국 사람들은 별걸 다 먹죠.
Godulbaegi is a plant from the chrysanthemum family. Koreans really eat all kinds of wild greens.
석박지 : Seokbakji (Radish Kimchi)
맛있게 잘 익었어요. 보통은 탕 같은 국물 음식이랑 잘 어울려요.
It was well fermented and tasty. It usually goes well with soup dishes.
추가 반찬 : Extra sides 김, 샐러드 Toasted seaweed (gim), salad.
마무리
오늘은 유린기와 석박지가 제일 맛있었어요. 찰수수밥은 처음 먹어봤는데 특별한 맛은 없었네요. 날씨가 점점 더 변덕스러워지는데, 여러분은 요즘 점심으로 어떤 메뉴가 당기시나요?

Today, the yurinchi and seokbakji were the best. The glutinous sorghum rice was my first time trying it, but it didn’t have any special flavor. The weather keeps changing so much these days. What kind of lunch dishes are you craving lately?
