March 6th, Family Dinner:'Mudeung Sogalbi' in Namyangju!My Table, Korea 2026. 3. 6. 20:35
Hello, K-Food lovers! Tonight, I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my family at a newly opened galbi restaurant near our home, called 'Mudeung Sogalbi.' It seems to be a franchise that opened about three months ago. Shall we dive into my honest review of galbi, one of K-Food's most iconic dining experiences, enjoyed with my family?

Our family of three spent a total of 80,800 KRW. We centered our meal around the 'Mudeung King Galbi Set (600g),' complemented by various side dishes and meal options. From the meat to the accompaniments and hearty meal choices, it was a truly satisfying spread.
1. The Meat: Mudeung King Galbi Set
Our main course was the Mudeung King Galbi Set. The serving included one large king galbi rib attached to the bone, along with beautifully prepared galbi-sal (boneless rib meat). It was marinated galbi, but the marinade wasn't overly strong and the meat was incredibly tender, allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine through with a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Even the kids thoroughly enjoyed it! The rich marbling and tender texture make it a dish that anyone, regardless of age, would love.

Diverse Sides & Sauces
The charm of Korean BBQ restaurants lies in the abundance of side dishes (banchan) and various sauces! 'Mudeung Sogalbi' was no exception.- Sauces: A variety of sauces were available for dipping, and the sesame oil with minced garlic paired exceptionally well with the meat. The savory and pungent garlic perfectly cut through any richness.
- Basic Banchan: We had perfectly ripened kimchi, refreshing Pajeori (spicy green onion salad), crunchy sukjunamul (bean sprout salad), and a surprising addition: sushi rice! It was a unique and interesting way to enjoy the galbi, like a mini meat-sushi.
- Ssam Vegetables: Fresh sangchu (lettuce), along with cooling ssam-mu (pickled radish wrap), pungent gochu (chili peppers), and a spicy gochu-chae-muchim (shredded chili pepper salad) were generously provided, making it fun to create custom wraps. The daepa kimchi (green onion kimchi), with its crisp texture and tangy seasoning, was a fantastic match for the galbi!

2. 식사 : Meal Options
After enjoying the delicious meat, it's customary to finish with a satisfying meal option, isn't it? Our family ordered Nurungji, Doenjang Sulbap, and Mul-naengmyeon.
- 누룽지 : Nurungji (Scorched Rice Soup):
- This scorched rice soup is my wife's favorite meal option. The warm, savory broth with soft, chewy rice is simply delightful. It was a bit chilly that evening, so the comforting warmth of the nurungji felt even more delicious, warming us from the inside out.
- 된장술밥 : Doenjang Sulbap (Soybean Paste Stew with Rice):
- Doenjang Sulbap, where rice is added directly into a hearty soybean paste stew, is a beloved Korean post-BBQ dish. The spicy and savory doenjang jjigae flavor combined with the rice was filling and felt like a perfect hangover cure! The seasoning was a little on the milder side, which made it easy to enjoy without being overwhelming.
- 물냉면 : Mul-naengmyeon (Cold Buckwheat Noodles in Broth):
- This Mul-naengmyeon is my daughter's absolute favorite menu item. It's a cold buckwheat noodle dish served in an icy, refreshing broth. Even though it was a bit cold, kids always seem to crave something icy like this! ^^ Its cool and clean taste perfectly cut through the richness of the meat, making it the ultimate palate cleanser for the end of the meal.

된장술밥
밀면(물) Tonight's dinner at 'Mudeung Sogalbi' was a truly joyful experience, allowing our family to savor delicious galbi and a wide array of K-Food. The tender, perfectly seasoned galbi, the generous banchan spread, and the satisfying meal options all came together in perfect harmony. If you're looking to experience authentic Korean dining culture, I highly recommend 'Mudeung Sogalbi'!
