April 15, Seolleongtang for a Chilly Feeling on a Hot Day

오늘은 2026년 4월 15일이에요. 낮에는 점점 더워지는데, 나는 감기 기운이 있어서 오늘은 뜨끈한 설렁탕을 먹으러 갔어요. 근처에 있는 “설가옥”이라는 식당인데 1978년에 오픈한 오래된 곳으로, 집에서 가까워서 자주 가는 단골집입니다. 뜨거운 국물을 먹으니 땀이 나면서 몸이 한결 가벼워지는 기분이었어요.

Today is April 15th, 2026. The days are getting hotter, but I was feeling a bit under the weather with a cold, so I went out for hot Seolleongtang. The restaurant is called “Seolgaok” near my house. It opened in 1978 and has been a frequent favorite because it’s so close. Eating the steaming hot broth made me sweat and I felt much better afterward.

설렁탕 : Seolleongtang (Beef Bone Soup)

깔끔하고 누린내 없는 국물에 부드러운 소고기가 넉넉히 들어있고, 소면이 들어있어요. 파는 내가 넣을 거고요.

It had a clean broth with no gamey smell, plenty of tender beef, and somyeon noodles. I added the green onions myself.

 

양념장 : Seasoned Dipping Sauce (Yangnyeomjang)

공기밥 : Steamed Rice (Gonggi-bap)

쌀이 좋은 거 같아. 밥맛이 정말 좋았어요.

The rice seemed to be good quality. It tasted excellent.

 

김치 : Kimchi

깍두기와 배추김치가 나왔는데, 깍두기는 시원하고 배추김치는 묵은지 느낌이었어요.

Both kkakdugi and napa cabbage kimchi were served. The kkakdugi was refreshing, and the cabbage kimchi had a well-fermented, aged taste.

 

오늘은 감기 기운 때문에 일부러 뜨거운 설렁탕을 먹으러 갔는데, 정말 잘 먹은 것 같아요. 국물이 깔끔하고 소고기도 부드러워서 만족스러웠습니다. 설가옥은 오랜 역사가 있는 곳이라 그런지 늘 안정적인 맛을 내줘요. 여러분은 설렁탕 좋아하세요? 감기 기운 있을 때 뭐 드시는 편인가요?

Today I deliberately chose hot seolleongtang because I wasn’t feeling well, and I’m glad I did. The broth was clean and the beef was very tender — it was a satisfying meal.
