  • March 11, Black Rice and Jjamppong Sundubu Combo
    My Table, Korea 2026. 3. 11. 13:54

Hey, so I had lunch today, March 11, 2026, and the menu was a bit weird, right? But seriously, total plot twist! The moment I took a bite, I was like, "Whoa, what is this?!" From black rice to spicy Jjamppong Sundubu, and even a random Aglio e Olio, it was a seriously unexpected flavor party!

    • Black Rice: Healthy rice is the best, hands down!

I'm definitely on Team Black Rice! It's sticky and nutty, and tastes amazing with any side dish. Perfect for a hearty, filling meal!
    • Spicy Seafood Soft Tofu Stew (Haemul Jjamppong Sundubu): OMG, that broth was insane!
This one was seriously a winner! Super spicy and refreshing seafood broth, packed with super soft tofu~ It was perfect for warming up on a chilly day. If you love spicy food, you'd totally dig this!

Aglio e Olio: Pasta in a Korean meal? But seriously delicious!
Honestly, I was like, "Why is there Aglio e Olio in a Korean set menu?" But it was a total surprise! The garlic aroma, mixed with olive oil, was just heavenly. Pasta lovers would definitely be impressed!

    • Chirolé Boneless Mayo Chicken: It was just "meh"...
Ugh... honestly, this wasn't much different from the boneless chicken you find at convenience stores. It wasn't crispy enough and a bit dry, which was a bummer. Hoping for a tastier chicken next time... (fingers crossed!)

    Side Dish Combos:

    • Gim (Roasted Seaweed): Hello, rice thief!
What can I even say about this? Crispy and savory roasted seaweed is always a good idea! It disappears instantly when you eat it with rice. 🍚
    • Fried Egg: Adding some soft goodness!
The freshly cooked, warm fried egg! So soft and just slid right down. It was a perfect addition that even made the meal more filling!
    • Seasoned Wedge Potatoes: Crispy outside, soft inside - OMG!
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! And perfectly seasoned, I seriously couldn't stop eating them. They went so well with the main dishes!
    • Braised Lotus Root (Yeongeun Jorim): My absolute fave side dish!
You know I love braised lotus root, right? That unique crunchy texture and the sweet and savory seasoning were just perfect! Totally lived up to expectations!
    • Spring Cabbage Salad (Bomdong Namul): Full of spring vibes~
The Bomdong Namul, mixed with soybean paste dressing, really made it feel like spring had arrived! The fresh crunch of the veggies and the savory soybean paste went so well together, I polished off a bowl of rice in no time.
    • Pogi Kimchi: It's the law!
Kimchi is always the standard! The familiar spiciness paired so well with the rice, I almost asked for endless refills, haha.

Today's lunch, with its unexpected combinations, was a seriously delicious experience. It really reminded me that sometimes, being a bit daring opens up a whole new world of food! Totally looking forward to what surprising menu comes next!
