  • March 12, A Hearty Korean Buffet with Plenty of Meat

    Hello friends! Today I went to a Korean buffet that had 'meat' served in abundance for lunch. Just like our project needs to attract more foreign content, I felt like my lunch menu needed to be more diverse. (Laughs)

     

    🍚 Black Rice & 🥘 Cabbage and Shrimp Doenjang-guk (Soybean Paste Soup):
    Choosing black rice over the temptation of fried rice was definitely an excellent decision. And the warm, refreshing Cabbage and Shrimp Doenjang-guk was truly the best! The soft silken tofu made the soup even more flavorful. A great start to the meal!

     

    🥩 Beef & Bean Sprout Stir-fry & 🍖 Pork Cutlet:
    The prelude to the meat party was the Beef & Bean Sprout Stir-fry. The combination of crispy bean sprouts and beef is always right, isn't it? However, the pork cutlet was a bit disappointing. It had that slightly dry and tough texture typical of store-bought cutlets... Next time, I hope to encounter a crispier and juicier one!

     

    🍜 Bibim-guksu (Spicy Mixed Noodles):
    The sweet and spicy gochujang-sauced Bibim-guksu was truly a 'stroke of genius.' It's the kind of taste that really awakens your appetite! I almost went for a second helping!

     

    🍢 Fish Cake & Broccoli Stir-fry & 🌿 Gungchae Deulkkae-namul (Perilla Seed Oil Marinated Stem Lettuce):
    The Fish Cake & Broccoli Stir-fry had a savory soy sauce base that was perfectly seasoned, making it a great side dish for rice. And the 'Gungchae' (stem lettuce), which is another name for lettuce stems, had an amazing crunchy texture. It was a healthy and delicious side dish, which I liked.

     

    🥬 Buchu Mu-saengchae (Spicy Radish Salad with Chives) & 🌶️ Pogi Kimchi (Whole Cabbage Kimchi) & 🍘 Gim (Roasted Seaweed):
    For the radish salad, the seasoning was a bit too strong for my liking. I prefer a cleaner and simpler taste. I hope for a more refreshing radish salad next time! The Pogi Kimchi was the usual delicious cabbage kimchi, and as for gim, well, no explanation needed, right? It's a rice thief!

     

     

    Overall, it was a meat-heavy meal, which was filling, but sometimes I do look forward to a more varied menu. I hope you also have a delicious lunch and stay energized!
